Hey guys,

Last time I couldnt upload the images of my subfame but now i've uploaded it to picaso. Here they are: :P

My engineer insisted i keep all the panels intact so I had tomodify the hole and add lips to it. Once a bit of filler goes in there it should look like standard!

Now I'm trying to sort out the interior.. i've modied the starlet instrument cluster with the plastic hood thing so it doesnt poke out that much ( thanks to Mr Dremel)
I'm going to try my best to hook up the starlet wiper motor as well.. I'll have to make a custom slide mechanism I think.. we'll see

Thanks heaps for the pictures Ben. They were very helpful. I'm going to make a start on the wiring soon.. it cant be easy :? Did you happen to write down the wire colours which go to the back of the car by any chance?

Any help with the wiring would be appreciated

I have a wiring diagram of the engine loom but not of the body loom think it shows the wires to the fuel pump that is the only ones you need that run to the back unless using it to run lights but would be a lot easier to use a mini loom for that though.

I used the starlet loom for the front and wired in the rear mini loom. If you have any Q's drop me a PM.

Yes I think this would make my life a lot easier actually. With reagrds to removing bits from the starlet loom, which bits can I cut off ( like the AC wiring etc... any connections that need to be permanently connected etc)

Once again.. any help would be appreciated guys

Really need to get your hands on a wiring diagram before you start with the wiring. I'm hopefully going to be doing some wiring soon. Was thinking of going through the whole loom and working out where things come and go. Then i can make up custom lengths for everything. I think i'll probably use more connections than the old morris loom. Have one section for the engine, dash, rear etc...

Good luck getting a Starlet wiring diagram, i tried for weeks / months and got nothing. Yes you can find ones of the engine loom but it does not really help out with the rest of the wiring.

i sourced the tercel wiring diagrams and spent considerable time reviewing it against the starlet loom - guess what it is generally the same as the starlet wiring. Once i knew this i untaped the looms and comenced removing wires including ABS, AC, power mirrors, light delay system. Then tapped it all up and fitted it into the mini and connected all the smiths gauges, mini wiper, washer, rear mini loom, pumps thermo fan, push button start.
I had two bucket loads of wires, relays etc left over after i finished and that was after reusing wires.

I donot recommend keeping the mini loom up front.

Also there is a connection that will need to be bridged to make sure your thermo fan turns on and off (it will stay on all the time if you do not bridge). The connection is an AC switch which is located adjacent to the AC gas bottle in the engine bay.

Dan,

You should publish your findings in words and photos for all to use.

I have done an extensive investigation into the Starlet rear wiring to investigate what is what (e.g. brake lights, tail lights, fuel pump etc). Using a mates Starlet GT. I haver augmented these with pics of the cables and wire colours etc.

So if you want, we could publish all of it to give those coming behind us a running start.

What say you??

That would be really fantastic! :) . I need to sit down for a day or two and try and work out which bits are which. all the diagrams you guys have come up with would really be helpful :P

Dan - thanks for the heads up on the joint connection at the A/C. I'll keep a look out for this.

Yeah guys that would be fantastic, while I have mine running well, I took the path of least resistance (you certainly don't want to look behind my dash), so some pics/diagrams would be great as I too would like to go back and remove all the crap from my wiring or make up a custom loom.
