Fibreglass is a thermoset plastic will not melt.
It may blister & burn, but it will not melt.

Wrapping & heat shields will not only help under bonnet temperatures, it will increase the efficiency of the turbo & reduce lag.

My engineer made me wrap my exhaust manifold and put a heat sheild on. At first i wasnt happy but when i left the car running for a hour on the drive and was still able to touch the exhaust manifold without burning myself i was impressed.

if you are going to have problems with heat around the turbo and room. Buy a turbo bag. They shield the heat and aren't cheap but well worth it just for the performance gains

over time you will damage your paint more than the fibreglass

Yeah, but it does hold the dirt (not for show cars).

Try your local industrial supplier Blackwoods / Coventrys & ask for fibreglass ladder tape. May be cheaper.

Also soak the stuff if water before wrapping it on the car & wear gloves/dust mask. Stops too much of the itchy stuff

Not entirely sure about 'stylish' and I guess you'd need to trim the lip but not that bad

ahh ok, is that the same stuff? sounds like a plan. ill look into it when the shops are back open.

Clacker_Dacker, that morris bonnet looks sh@t hot. would love to do something like that, but ill see how i go with space, i think ill have to make do with 3 2" holes with mesh behind it (lower down, near turbo). not pretty but maybe effective?

thanks everyone, great help :)
