hey guys i was just about to get into a turbo starlet-mini engine conversion but with all this news in brisbane about the gov starting to bring in the laws where P platers cant drive turbo, supercharged or v8 engined cars i dont know weather to try a 4E-FE conversion and just add the turbo later but only probalem would be the lack of oomph. Are there engines out there to give the equal performance of the 4EFTE?? High reving would be good too

cheers
dave

Pretty sure you wouldn't be allowed to drive any mini with a conversion on your provisionals regardless.

They also made the rules for a reason. To make the roads safer for you and for others. You can't even modify the standard engine on your provisionals?

How about getting a mini and learning car control before going out and getting massive power, i don't think you realise how quick a convereted mini really is.

Even a 4EFE mini would have 80HP which will be a quick car..

Hold off on going crazy for a bit, get some experience under your belt and maybe then think about doing it.

what he said.
Learn to drive, then go learn car control. What you think you know about driving is much much less than you think. I have been driving for 18 years and I still don't feel like i know enough.
I would highly recommend anyone, to go do some advanced driving courses, well worth the money, good fun and most importantly all done in a SAFE and CONTROLLED environment.

Cheers
Aaron

Yeah thats a good point i really shouldnt rush into it i just wanted to get rid of my A series cause ive been having problems with it but i could always swap it for a recon one till later years. thanks for the advice guys.

Oh also read in the papers but never know if u can trust them that the new laws only apply to P platers who get their licence after the 1 st july 2007 anyone know if this is true? cause my mate has a land rover td5 and is worried he wont be able to use it any more

Land Rover TD5 is a Turbo Diesel anyway. As I understand the laws Turbo-Diesels are still okay for P Platers.
