Whilst I understand the wish to re-engine your mini. Why the big deal about hp?

Funny you should raise that. I've never seen anyone make a big deal about HP. Having said that, wIthout the benefit of Qtr mile or lap times its the only form of measurement.

seems like your keen for a crap fight mate?? yeah mine hasnt got that much HP, 8psi g13b, heck if you want you can be a wally and spin 1st and 2nd and a little of 3rd up the street.. but it is possible to drive it quickly without doing skids..

and why have lots of horse power?? find someone who has a turbo'd mini.. ask them, or pay them to go for a drive and race someone.. you will understand when you see the guys face in his jap car or rice burner or there fully sweet ss commodores at the next set of lights... either that or they wind the window up or take the next street and piss off home..

end rant :)

I reckon conversions are great.

They are the way of the future, and also are a cheaper way of getting more 'bang for your buck' from the Mini.

I also think that the hunt for HP is not resigned to those who have completed engine conversions. There is an equal amount of dick-swinging with the humble A-Series.

HAHAHHAHA^^ HP is definitely british and should be held up with the very british things that are good, aren't many but still.

On topic...quest for HP is definitely a wank factor thing. Sorry but i'm falling victim for it. After I pay off my guitar amp that I borrowed lots of money for (wank factor in loudness  ) . I'm gonna slowly add little bits to increase the of power to my mini (real power not sticker and and 'triple S badge' power  ) slowly making it slightly more beastial so that everytime I drag a ricer I won't get beaten quite so badly  8)

Funny thread guys.

I quite like 998_Clubman's response, ther is nothing better than the look on someones face when you show them up in a mini.

I also think it is a nature thing, you get something and you think wow that's quick, but then you get used to it and want a bit more and a bit more and bit more. I was into motorcycles and over a decade went from a CB250 Honda that was flat out doing 100kmh to a GSXR1000 that was capable of three times that. I don't even care about the HP per se it is how it feels when I accelerate.

Cheers

i understand the sentiment, but FFS take it off the street. Some T$%D in his little swift just about killed me on the way home because he was "racing" his mate in a WRX, and just to insult a lot more of you here, both of these little S%&TS were on P plates. That is NOT racing, that is just driving like a F#$%WIT.

cheers

Yeah I do agree. I never really go all out, but seriously my little car going 3/4 power it only just over takes traffics from green lights. But yeah to all powerful mini owner's... I reckon for SA people, we should get a big drag day going, don't know how tho. We should take on another marque, MGB's maybe (cept those V8 ones are quick!) Or even just as a club level event. Mini's ain't drag cars but no reason why we can't just go have fun and clock some 1/4 miles. .....As for dickheads a mate of mine who is like 15 now but has a torana, real nice putting a V8 in it in the next few weeks is taking after his brother and going to start doing street ILLEGAL drags. He'll die, that is terrible, I told him it's stupid, but he won't listen.....
