Hello,

I was toying with the idea of the fuel tank fill from the inside of the boot, so that i can fill the hole where the filler neck usually comes through the body. (to have a cleaner look). A friend of mine said it is illegal to not have the fuel tank filled from outside the car. I had a look at the ADR's (num. 17) and it just says that no part of the fuel system can be in the passenger compartment.. i was just wondering if anyone has done this before, or wether or not its allowed
Cheers
Pierre

I remember seeing a guy on the side of the hume highway near Goulburn in a 1275 LS , gold I think , some time in the early 90's with the boot open pouring in a jerry can of fuel , I stopped (on the off chance he was about to torch it so I could scam some bit's, I know , I'm a mini vulture) but he'd had the filler neck moved from the left side of the tank to the right side of the tank so it was filled from inside the boot . He was middle aged from memory and had just restored/rebuilt the LS and was from Sydney somewhere . I think he said he had to have the boot sealed from the passenger compartment and vented to the outside before it could be passed for rego but I think it was a mate who passed it as well so no real idea on legality but it certainly neatened up the rear of the mini .

i would love to do this get rid of the filler neck all together and get a custom fuel tank made up that actually holds a bit of fuel and mount in the boot
