Is a shame that we dont get too many small turbo deisel half-cuts from japan. We could all be running around in veggie oil burning minis! http://www.greasecar.com/mnep_view.cfm?mnepID=78 |

It has been done here too - pics from the Moke Muster: ![]() ![]() Daihatsu 1,000cc. Owner reckons he can get 2,500km from a tank ![]() Mind you, he's got a 105L tank ![]() |

That is sensational, If you were just driving to the station for a commute you'd only have to fill up once a YEAR!!! ![]() I assume that is not a turbo though, so it would be quite slow wouldn't it? Can you get those small ones in a turbo diesel? Does anyone know? |

I think that moke would get along very well, the car that motor came out of was probably twice as heavy (4x4 size chassis) go the daihatsu's ![]() |

Actually it's out of a Charade (I think) and they were available as turbo and non turbo deisel in Japan and other markets , don't think they got here though . basically a diesel version of the 3 cylinder 1 litre charade motor . |

Can you get those small ones in a turbo diesel? Does anyone know? Saw this at the Moke Muster. I can assure you that this is turbo-charged. Tiny little hairdryer hiding behind the engine (infront of the firewall). |

Just find yourself an A-series diesel. (Don't laugh, they do exist!) ![]() |

Yep, that little turbo-diesel fitted like it grew there. It was turboed. The A series diesel could be an option. If the petrol crank could be used with the diesel block it should fit on a Mini gearbox without too many issues. Then add a turbo. ![]() I love turbo diesels. Cheap to run (esp towing) and you just idle along on the highway, letting the low-down torque do all the work. |

There were actually Minis made in Italy with this Daihatsu diesel 3 lunger. De Tomaso made them, after the Innocenti deal was over. Body was similar but not identical. ![]() This is the shape- but this one's not diesel, it's a turbo... ![]() |
