Hi all
Ive got a b16a front cut lined up for $3200+ freight with 60,000km's, and with an LSD. :D
Just wondering what other people have been paying for engines??

Thanks

With the LSD, that would be a good price.

It's not entirely difficult to convert a cable set up to a hydro set up.

i paid 2700 for my half cut and they delivered it for free to my door, no lsd though, 100k on it, looks in very good condition not a scerick of sludge or anything in the rocker cover so can assume it's been well looked after!

various b16a's came with an lsd not just the type R's it was a factory option i beleive, you would be hard pressed to find a b16b (type R motor) for any less that $5 or $6k.

edit: oh and hyrdo would be best but cable can be modded pretty easy, an NZ company sell a neat conversion. b16a1's had the cable and b16a2's the hyrdo (plus a bit more output)

you sound like you know a bit about honda's, the engine has a hygraulic clutch but like you said and i've also read somewhere else the b16a had cable Clutch?????. would it be because its an import and not an aus model.

Thanks

there where a few generations of the b16a
the b16a or b16a1
and then came the b16a2 which had the hydraulic clutch. in japan they never put the 2 on the end of their second gen motors but did everywhere els around the world.
yours would be the same as mine, a JDM (japanese domestic market) b16a2 with the hyrdo clutch, higher comp ratio and more power from a more agressive tune in the ecu.

lsd's ain't cheap i have't looked into it myself just yet, i dare say well over a grand to have one installed.
i got my engine from hondworld in oakleigh victoria, found them quite helpful.

Hi miniza i was just wondering how you where going to solve the problem with the steering rack being in the road. Ive heard of people moving the rack back or anouther option was too move the engine forward.

Thanks

Steven

gonna use the allspeed frame that doesn't require moving the steering rack, quite simple really!! my drama will be the alterator and a suitable radiator!!

have a look on www.16vminiclub.com heaps of info in the honda section on their forum, definately the place for people tackling the honda conversions

Hi Miniza,

Will the Allspeed subframe need much modification to comply with our design laws here in Victoria? How would you find out whether it does or not? Have you looked into the engineers side with your conversion, and what has he said so far?

I will be going the B18C5 route and may go Street Rod rego if there are to many hassles because I am also considering modifying the engine even further.

Cheers,

Thien
