DON'T buy the supercheap or other <$100 versions they are worse than not having one. I've got a $60 version and it is the worst built tool I've ever had!!!!!

Best bet is the saturday Courier Mail. Find the auctions section where there are always ads for whole workshops worth of machinery from businesses going bust. Turn up to a Tuesday or wednesday auction and get one that was $2,000 new for about $300. While you are there look for single phase mig welders. There are sometimes $1,200 welders going really cheap.

x2 please 8)

I would look for a 2nd hand one. I picked up an old clunker out of the trading post. It isn't in great nick, but it works. With some TLC it will last forever.
