Mostly for Barracade, I'm thinking about the little barrel kit for the Brick.....(4"x6") was the kit comprehensive ? - have all the needed fittings, hoses etc ? Do you reckon it will be as effective (or more ?) than a front-mount ? does it have any special mounting considerations ? - is it freaking heavy for instance ? Hmmmm I'm thinking the 270HP one will be enough for me, and I dont think I'll stress it too hard....

james i have been looking at this for my mini also. The smallest barrel is probably the on im looking at too, but the kit comes with a pretty big radiator which will not fit in anywhere, also there pumps are pretty dear. So what im going to do is get the smallest barrel they have, try to find a cheap water pump, get a small radiator from the wreckers from maybe a falcon air conditioner system or something and try to mount it where the old mini radiator used to sit with a fan on it, then just get some hose and see how it goes. |

I'm thinking something similar.... $455 for an intercooler is pretty bloody good..... I KNOW i can get good pumps from Jaycar for about $100 and a resevior and heat-exchanger should also be easy to get hold of .... I'm with you..... J |

Whilst PWR looks bling there is a much cheaper alternative in the subaru water to air set up. Relatively easy to modify too I rection. JC |

JC, Been down that path before... they are HUGE ..... Seriously, not anywhere enough room in the Brick, AND keep the inlet tract as short as possible.... J |

I am pretty sure you can go direct J. Yeah these are very bling but very practicle too... Was surprised about the actual size in the end thou... I think Brads right... just buy the Barrell & buy the rest yourself. The kits are great. But not practicle for a mini. Smiles |

years and years ago Julian Edgar did an article in Fast Fours about making his own barrel water-air intercooler for the Daihatsu Mira. i'll have a look and see if i can find it and scan it for you later if you want. michael |

For a raditor try the heater core from the starlet front cut, they are fairly narrow and could be worth using. Dan |

I'm using PWR's smallest on the starlet.....because i'd heard good things about them, and didnt want to cut up the front end to make way for a front mount..... I only got the barrel, and put in a davies craig booster pump (about $190) and a custom radiator from a guy on the starlet forums..... I did have some trouble fitting it though.....as the actual core may only be 6" long, but with the two end tanks, it turns out to be about 12".......and then you need room for bends at either end etc.....but i suppose you could get creative. My solution required welding bends directly to the cooler, as there wasnt enough room for silicone joins etc. This meant all piping had to be done in alluminium, which had to be tig welded etc etc.....making my piping cost around $500 
oh well, it's all done now, and seems to work ok. Jeremy

Just looking at that pic again......if you were keeping the CT9, you wouldnt need such a bendy pipe at the front to get around the exhaust manifold, so your piping would be quite a bit cheaper...... |
