Little to report. Trick for new players. Before you try dismantling a Japanese motor vehicle have your hands surgically removed and replaced with little metal things that rotate 360 degrees in every direction. That way you can get to all the nuts and bolts and crap and not lose any skin. Got the clutch cabling off it Got the gear shifter mechanism out. Getting closer to having the loom out. Accelerator pedal and cable stuff. Removed the rear engine mount bit that is attached to the car (looks like it can be adapted to the mini frame) Speedo cable, gave it a few yanks, "i don't think that's going to work". Note - each of these tasks were preceeded by "how the fark does that work". |

Haha, who needs skin on the knuckles anyway? When putting the 1G in the RA23 and a CA18 into a KE55, i ended up with more skin on the engine than my hands. Watching the dog licking the dump pipe for the CA18 made it better though. Stupid dog. PS, i know someone who sold you something. I don't know what it was though... |

Stripey, speaking of speedo cables I attached mine to the engine last night. I found that by putting my forearm in a vice and breaking it in two places I was able to bend my arm and wrist enough to get it in place. Now I just have to wait 6 weeks for my arm to heal. Also the speedo cable has a screw collar on the engine end... |

Hmmm or you could take the easy way out & put a sensor on the driveshaft... & calibrate a electronic speedo on the dyno... Smiles |

Was able to get it off at the engine end relatively easily. Just the dash end wouldn't budge. Didin;t want to have to remove the whole dash. Am seriously running out of time. My house appears to have sold rather unexpectedly so I've got to move everything. Not so if I should move the front cut too or just pilfer what I can and ditch the rest. |

Stripey, no doubt you are more organised than me  but I would move the whole half cut as there are always little fiddly bits left on the car that you may end up needing and trying to source them later will be a pain. Just my 2c.
As for the speedo cable the one on the guages end has that snap lock arrangement. So you need the 3 year old with the 7 jointed arm... |

Is your cut an EP91 or EP82? on an EP91 the best way of getting the speedo cable out is by reaching up above the pedals and following the cable with your fingers until you get to the end.....then u have to try and squeeze the clip.....not easy, but u get used to it 
If it's an EP91, then i may pilfer some parts off you

if u wanna loose skin off your knuckles try doin turbo return seals on a volvo xc90 T6. you just have to love a twin turbo transverse straight 6. after working with a mirror for 4 hours kneeling in the engine bay u start to get a little dizzy. |

Andy, awesome to see you and the car today. My wife is sick of me talking about it already. After having seen yours (and the fella in NZ, strangely enough, Andy too) I'm thinking of fitting the starlet column. If not to have it adjustable, just centered. That shits me about the mini. It may create an issue with the wiring loom but I would say easily solved. Reckon one could do away with stuff like floor high beem and dodgy switches for lights on dash in favour of using the starlet column stuff? That way I could use the switches on the dash for dual stage boost controller and ejecter seat. Must remember to clearly mark them both however....... |

Hi JC, Yeah really good to catch up again today. The Starlet column is the go - crumple zones, adjustability and ergonomic switch location. You cant beat it! Ready to lay-up the carbon fibre air box now and get the oil catch can fabbed up. That will be enough done for the engineer to then come out and sign off the brake line location and all the other stuff in the engine bay. Should have him out by the weekend with some luck. Lets get together again soon and talk some more crap!.
