Rikki, in a word yes and no. The 1275 is a factory option but as you are changing something pretty fundamental about the car I would assume that you would have to take it over the pits and get the rego details changed. Once this is done you must notify your insurance company actually ring them before you do the engine change and seek their reaction, it may cause a rise in your premium. |

Good advice, but remembering that BLMC released a 1275cc Moke with drum brakes..... ![]() |

Yeah I must admit I got mine rego'd with the 1275 and drums (was waiting for the metro items). Is it stated somewhere or just plain common sense.... |

Thanks RIkki Queensland Transport say that you can fit any manufaturer's optional engine provided that all brakes and suspension are identical to the model with that engine. You won't then need to get it complienced, but you will need to tell QT so that they can change the rego details. I suppose that in theory if you don't fit 1275 brakes then you will need to get it complianced... Either way you won't need to get a roadworthy again. There may have been a 1275 Moke with drum brakes but it's not a Mini, so as far as QT are concerned that is irrelevant. |

Don't mean to stir but mokes are not minis. You may not be able to use that excuse with the disk brakes. Dan |
