Post subject: | Cost of subframe for Clubman |
I am new to all of this and was just interested how much will it cost for me to get a subframe manufactured to fit a Gti engine in to a clubman. ( I haven't got any mechanical experience so I won't be doing any of the work) Also does anyone know of any places in Melbourne where I can get a subframe made up. |

you will be looking at anything from $1000-$3000 for one that would be able to get engineered. |

If you want someone in Melb to make the subframe, Link Automotive in Mitcham may be able to help. However if you want someone who's made a few of the subframes and has refined the design try Dennis Turner (DTMINI on this forum) as by all acounts, he's the man!) |

I reckon it would be hard for someone to justify $3,000 for a frame. It's more than likely that you would be givingthe builder just about everything they need to do it (in the way of research). They would just be bending up some tubing and welding it all together. Granted there is a lot of fiddly stuff but that's all fairly straight forward. It should also be noted that this is not a job that you should take on if you aren't prepared to do heaps of little things yourself. If someone is going to do it for you they will be charging it at about $60/hour. You would need to have VERY deep pockets if they are to do everything for you. |

With what you've spent on your monster Dean, it'd be 2 kidneys and the money you'd save on alcohol for the next 10 years ![]() |

Good effort 998. I did alot of things that probably aren't strictly necessary so I could have probably got it done for less. Things like 0BX Buckets, Koni Shocks, conversion to dry cone etc, push up the budget. |
