Hey guys, Just wondering if you can help me decide on an engine a little better. There are a few I can't decide between: Starlet GT Swift GTi Swift 3cyl turbo Charade 3cyl Turbo So basically I first need to decide between 4 cylinders or 3. This is the main decsion I'm having troubles with. It is going to be a daily driven car (maybe not everyday but definately on the weekend and maybe a night or two during the week sorta thing) so I don't want extreme amounts of power ala Bara's beast. But I definately want a fair bit of up and go. Now I'm leaning towards a 3 cylinder at the moment on the basis that I think the car will need to lack some torque. What good is all the power going to be if I can't get it to the ground? What are your thoughts on this? Either of the Swift engines would be good for me because I own both a GTi and GA (3cyl) but I'm fairly open at this stage. Regards |

mate for a road car any of these engines will do fine i would say if just for a everyday car then go the suzy swift gti 5 speed box fuel injection realiable and cheap to run if you want a bit of poke at the same time then i think the starlet gt is still the pick KEEP in mind that a suzy swift gt has similar Kws to a heavily modded A series at stock anyways with a 5 speed with fuel injection with the easy gain of hp through simple mods exhaust manifold chips etc |

Will be in a clubby. In the end I want the car to be a real nice all-rounder. Nice suspension, nice brakes, nice engine. So I don't want the front too heavy which was half my decsion of thinking of a 3 cylinder engine, although I'm not too sure on the weight differences... |

All four of those motors you selected would be lighter than a mini motor.... |

weight wont matter with any of these engines if it where me it would be a starlet gt or a honda vtec |

Cool, weight is not a problem  That makes it slightly easier to choose a 4 cylinder engine. Vtec, GTi and GT engines are getting done a lot though and I doubt the 3 cylinder Swift engine has ever been done.
I spose what ever engine turns up first will be the pick of the bunch. Best thing about the Suzi 3 cyl engine is the cost! Could likely snatch one for free

Yeah Starlet Is the pick of the lot in my oppinion 
but yeah a little suzuki would be a good choice aswell |

Brad gave me some info on engine weights for the 4EFTE versus the A series (engine & gbx). 156kgs for A series and approx 118kgs for the Starlet so there you go 40kgs saving already...And apart from the VTEC the 4EFTE is probably the heaviest of the bunch... |

I can vouch for that... Dad & I could lift the 4efte iin & out of the trailor... But we couldn't lift the a-series up into the trailor without the crane... amazing what 40kilos does to your back...

I'm getting a Suzuki G10A complete engine with all ancillaries for $80. Don't really need the whole engine but I can use the spares on my other bush bash Swift. And so starts a lengthy process
