But would they work with the doors open? :? I'd say El Gato will be quite the show kitten and need to show off the stereo with the doors open.
Cool idea though!

what happens if you are driving then started to rain and water seeps in between your door which is a big percentage in minis.

pretty cool though no messy wires.

The plastic or rubber sheath and the grommets should stop any water ingress I'm hoping!b :D

Sam,

Good find young man! But I want to be able to run the speakers with the doors open as per '77's comments. Plus, open circuit loading on amps is not good (especially when its all of a sudden, like when someone opens the doors).

placing to doors in situ did reveal a gap of about 10mm, which will allow me to run a couple of wires through a grommet, then along some flexible rubber sheath which lays flat, then back through another grommet. This should work I'm hoping. You can even get flat 4-core cable that's a ribbon from Jaycar I believe.

I did find some electric window kits specially for Mini's on the web. Wood and Pickett have one:
http://www.woodandpickett.com/shop/classic-mini/electrics/electrical-kits/92/

As does Minispares ans Minispeed:
http://www.minispeed.co.uk/classic/index.cgi?task=showproduct&id=ewk

But check out the prices! Anyone tried fitting one of these?

I was thinking more along the lines of fitting one of the universal kits, such as this one from eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=320397909821

Dicko - will you be there this year? Would love to sit down and have an ale or three!

Now, anyone have an answer to the boot hinges and C-pillar trim questions??

Cheers,
Tricky

Good work there mate..

i am just wondering why you are running all those vacuum solenoids in the engine bay? are you going to install A/C or P/S??

I took all those solenoids out of the loom since they are all related to the A/C system.. it will look a lot neater that's all :)

Cheers

Those Magum shooters are used a lot in the Hot Rodding scene but this if there is enough room in the door jamb, the standard (and modern) solution is the way to go :

Tricky,,, all that extra weight??? speakers, sterios systems amplifiers , wiring, etc & all that doof doof stuff,,, there had better not be any plans for the "Bussa-Beast" to have tunes mate :-) the only tunes that should be playing is the sweet sweet sound of hi rev bike singing the tune to 12,000rpms :-)

Ah well,,, at least the Starlet might actually get "some" traction with all that "excess" weight hey?
:-)

Pubs,
I havent even started on the 'stripping' of extraneous stuff yet. But indeed, all excess electrical and mechanical components will be gone mate.

Matt,
No such stuff for the 'Busa-Beast'. It will be stripped out, no-holes-barred full-on racer that's for sure. El Gato will be my 'fun daily' i.e. that is when I get sick of driving the Patrol to work and want a bit of fun I'll take it. No way will it be a trailer queen.

Just a couple of pice as to where we finished up on Sunday arvo. The feed pipe into the turbs is all done, just waiting Cazmo to weld the sucker up.

As you can see, not a lot of room left in there. The only bit of piping left to do is the force feed air, or ram air into the airbox. I will post another pic of the oil cooler location when I get the bracets back from Cazmo - I thought it looked great.

Cheers,
Tricky
