Haha nope No FMIC for me.... We are going one step better & putting a 6*8 Barrell water to air intercooler in... & the radiator for the intercooler will sit down where the turbo sits on a stocko motor...

Hmmmm Driveshafts should arrive any day now tooo...

Hmmm should I ceramic coat my TURBO MANIFOLD??? Bloody expensive thou...

Well I do admire your work, a word of warning though, "heat shield"

On a 318i BM with custom turbo I had, the zorst manifold and dump pipe glowed red and was melting through wires not even close.

Mate get down the local welding supply and get some shielding blanket and attach it to some polished staino then put the staino in and blanket out.

would love to see the faces on all and sundry when you open it up!

Fantastic, that looks awesome. Are all the pipes equal length ?

Where are you going to put the radiator for the motor?

Keep up the good work.

cause as soon as the gases leave the motor, they change direction by 90 degrees. it's not even a gradual bend, it just goes "*PLUNK oh crap i'm going over here now"

maybe those photos are deceptive, but it just looks hell messy.
the photos are really dark, in fact, at first it looks like there's just two horizontal tubes lying in front of the exhaust flange.

anyway, fluids don't LIKE changing direction. they lose a lot of efficiency by doing so, and you get turbulent flow inside the manifold.
i'd almost prefer a log style manifold compared to that, purely because the runners are short so the gases stay hot long enough to do their thang well.

but that's just me.

well hey, i didn't say it wouldn't work. it's just far from ideal.
luckily turbo motors are a little less fussy about that kinda stuff. if it were atmo, it'd be a ****ing dog.

i'm not just your average keyboard warrior, before someone accuses me of that.
fluid mechanics happened to be one of my better subjects

cheers, that helped a lot.

given how much he'd be paying, i think there's way too many bends and much too long runners to be anywhere near ideal.
the justification would be that there's just no room to do any better.

fair enough i guess.

(shoulda rear mounted it!)

Many marine V8 manifolds are built that way (but all 4 into 1 collector). No room to do much else on cruisers....

yeah some of the bends at the head are sharp but dont forgett that when a turbo is spooling up it is not only the exhaust the spint the turbo but also the turbo sucks out the exhaust, plus it is a gas and gasses spin not just rush in a straight line.
look at top fuelers or any other top performance engines they all have bends at the head because the gases are spinning and this can inprove the flow to help speed the gasses up and if that was not the case then i am sure they woudl know and they would have a straight set of headers as they have plenty of room

fair enough, yeh the bends are tight at the head, but this is the only way to do it really with the room....But wouldnt doing a log manifold have a tight bend of the head too?? and the other cylinders going into the log have a T intersection. there long runners but the motor makes all its power between 5000rpm and 10 000rpm so shouldnt affect it to much.
