james, the turbo will not reach its efficiency range untill gets up around 18-20psi so i expect it to make around 240+hp on that psi. It has a massive rear wheel on it rated for over 400hp so will some big boost to get the best out of it.

I think he is going to setup his boost controller for 12psi (minimum it will run) 16psi and 20psi. I think 220hp will be seen at 16psi, and that could be the limit for street use.

20psi will probably only be wound into it for track use i think. Actually knowing dean it will be set to 30psi all the time :D

WIth the way the mini drove last night, with the traction it showed and the ease of driveing it needed i wouldnt be suprised if it ran a low 13 second 1/4 on 12psi.

Well, the fastest "street tyred" Mini ran a 12.1 in England (I think it was Dave Williams.. or Was it Jim.. I cant remember now...) but they had over 200@Wheels and en extra 50HP No2...

So if dean can get high 200@wheels, then he's right in the ball-park for the title of "Worlds Fastest Mini" ......

The moroso power / speed calculator says that if he weighs around 670Kgs... and has around 260HP, then he's looking at a perfect traction 11.5 !!

Wow...

J

i thought the fastest mini would be one of those turbo GSXR1300 powered rwd minis in the UK...there was one on 5th gear the other day that they reckon was 450hp at the crank...which is about 340 @ wheels...

By the way are we talking a loss of 90hp through the drivetrain. Trust me bike gearboxes are not very bhp sapping. I had a YZF750SP with casette gearbox and that lost about 10bhp between engien and wheel. Agreed you are talking a car but even so, I guess maybe??

i was just doing the old "hp at the wheels equals kilowatts at the crank" so convert the hp at the crank to kw and you get hp at the wheels...so it would probably be +/- 10% of what i quoted...but when yer talking mid-300's at the wheels...+/- 30hp isnt gonna make a HUGE difference in noticeable performance...

Nah we are talking about fastest street registered front wheel drive mini. If you want to go for fastest mini good luck, that is set at 8.7@160mph by a black van in sydney, running a 7 litre v8.

Annoyed, I can't seem to be able to watch the vid, I have down loaded it twice now.

I'll try at work tomorrow.

Sounds like it very impressive though, by all the comments

Congrats Dean. So all it takes is about 24 pages of ausmini posts... where do I sign up for one? :D

Once you hit the HP limit and need a light weight pilot for quick quarters let me know

Man, I'm impressed with how well the thing looks to be behaving. I was expecting it to be jumping all over the road. Suspension been sorted or is that to do too?

Well done Dean. We've all seen your cheesy grin now!
