Excellent progress Phil.

Cant wait to see more.

That Sirion motor will be an absolute hoot in that Clubbie.

Cheers,

Are you doing any re-enforcing of the firewall?
We have a sirion powered clubman van here but is only the 3 banger... Not a bad little setup really looks like its meant to be in there!

The inside of the firewall has been reinforced and the new firewall itself is thicker steel than the original. Had an engineer look at it and says all will be good when finished so fingers crossed. Hoping to have it done for Minifest in Hobart in November.
As for the Hillman I have an Alfa Romeo twin cam 1800 complete car that will be stripped of all its running gear and fitted to it. A set of 18" chrome wheels and as low as in the photo. Haven't picked a colour yet(keep changing my mind) but the Mini will most likely be bright green pearl.
Thanks for all your encouragement so far. Makes me want to get more done to it.

This is just some of the internal bracing for the firewall. Have done a bit more since photo was taken.

Just took two of my minis out of the garage(van and roofless clubbie) and now have more room to work on this one.
Hopefully the neighbours wont complain about all the cars outside(6 altogether but 2 are registered at least) and all the noise coming from the garage..
I just can't wait to drive the little beast again. Got it when I was 17(15 years ago) and haven't driven it for over 10 years. I did sell it 6 years ago when I moved to the Gold Coast but got the shell back for free about 3 years ago when I did some spray painting for the fella that I sold it too. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Oh well better get back to it I suppose.

Well I've been working on it most of the weekend and have nearly finished the subframe and am very happy with the way it is looking now.
Here are some pics.

Thanks guys. I measured up what I wanted the tube to look like and got the local sheet metal place to bend it up for me. I'm hoping to get my own roll bar tube bender soon though so I can do it for myself next time and also bend up my own cage for it.
Soon I'll put up a post in other cars about the Hillman and it's rebuild when I start.

Well back at it again this week. Went to fit the subframe in today but had extended the pipework too far forward so wouldn't actually fit. OOPS  Anyway decided to remove the top pipes and move them back as shown in the photos. Now I've refitted them in a better position and Bolted it up into the car and trial fitted the engine.
Here are some new pics.

I think that will be enough for today.
I've also started trial fitting the shifter rods and the exhaust. I have to shorten the shifter rods about 100mm (tried 50mm today but still too long) to fit in the original position

I like the idea of the nudge bar being part of the subframe.
Cheers Pete
