Hey Gordo,
Wheres your playstation remote control?

That seems to be an integral part of any hydraulic/airbag suspension system that I've seen at shows.

I think I've got a spare one somehhere...

My local airbag suppliers got a mat which is like a twister game. You press on the different pictures and the car moves.

We won't even have to drive the cars soon.

kewl Gordo.... you're going to essentially have hydraulicly adjustable hilos, you're keeping the springs (rubber cones) and telescopic dampers

just like Morris 1100 said :D

Yep so the handling should stay close enough to origional, just be able to adjust it up and down.. Cos i have a kit on my van this is why i wanted something to raise and lower it. I still have to install it all and find space to fit the 4 batteries and the 2 pumps, hopefuly i will be able to fit it all just under the rear try where the battery and the spare usually sit in a van...

Also will be able to control each wheel individually and stop it at what ever height i want it at... The only downside it has is the weight the 2 pumps and valves and such weigh about 40 odd kgs and then the 4 batteries will also weigh a but load, prob could run it on 2 batteries at 24 volts but it will run so much better on 4 at 48 volts

Gordo

If you don't mind I'd like to find out where you got it from? The idea of this thread was so I could find a suitable kit for my needs.

I also was going to put in a van/ute, but for a different reason. I wanted to be able to raise the car to take a load, then lower it to look good on the weekend.(tax deductable company car) Hee Hee Hee :D

After seeing that I think the airbags are out the window!!!!

Thanks

Got the rams from rayvern hydraulics in England and got the hydraulic pumps and stuff from locolowriders in melbourne... Not cheap about $3000 for that and still need a couple of bits here and there and thats not installed and i still dont know 100 % that its all gonna work

Thanks mate, someones gotta fork out the money and give it a go. Thats still a hell of a lot cheaper than bags, and by looking at what you've got I don't see why it would'nt work.

Why batteries though, cant the pump work of the motor of the car??

They need power to run them, i guess you could run it stright off the alternator, but then it would only be 12 volt and that would struggle to get the pumps to pump... And for a basic setup for bags your lookin at around $5000 and that dosnt include all the mods that will need to be done, the 5k is for a basic setup say on a Hilux

I think an excavator runs it off the alternator, but they are a 24volt setup. Would 24volts be enough?? I've put bags in a hilux, we got away with about $4500 including kit, all mods, engineers cert etc. etc. Your setup should fit a lot easier though.

Yeah the kit should be an easier fit, and 24 volts would probably do it, but 48 would be quicker and stronger...

I contacted Rayvern hydraulics. They quoted me 1000 pounds for a complete kit, about 2000-2500Aus at a guess without freight. They claim to provide everything except the lead to connect it to the power supply.

always wondered how you can charge two batteries that are connected in series.....?
is it that they are only connected in series when the pump is running, then parallel when the pump is off and the alt is charging?
You would find that you could use smaller 12v batteries if you intend on only making adjustments to ride height every now and then, not making the car jump around....
Considering the weight of the mini, I wouldn't think that the pump would work that hard anyway.
Does the kit specify what fluid you need?
Can you use your auto fluid/ powersteer fluid instead of normal industrial hydraulic fluid?

Yeah you can use what ever fluid, ill prob use some sort of transmission fluid as it is a little thinner and will flow easier, and a mini being so light it wont need a denser fluid...
And you can get solenoids and such to charge the batteries in paralle but like you said when they are in series?? Ill have to look into that when its time to do that i guess
