I don't remember putting you guys down anywhere? i merely stated facts, ie. roundnose hasn't been done yet, although close, it's not a proven recipe like it is with clubbies thus far. I never said it won't happen, but for willies sake, a clubby is an easier alternative at this stage than sorting out those minor issues yourself, it may be fun, but it's also extra $$$ for the most part...

I'm not anti roundie or pro clubby by any means, i love all minis equally  ...you round nose lot are just insecure about the size of engine you can fit ..yes we have to get a dig or two in there somewhere ;)

Dan i have been following your work, and i congratulate you for getting this far, it is going to be one hell of a tight fit though.

Inazuma is here going on about how easy it is to do a conversion and that there is plenty of room to fit things, hey well maybe my idea of roomy is different to yours but i wouldn't say there is plenty of room in a clubby, so there is certainly going to be less in a roundie and i wouldn't go around calling a conversion easy either, but hey, that's me.

But hey, mine should be on the road by the second half of this year too, so we can all go out for a cruise 8)

Mini Mad, I don't think you ever put anybody down either, I've always said the round nose would be tight (upfront that is).

With the roundnose you will have to modify the turbo position and build an exhaust manifold if you want it all inside the engine bay. Andy from NZ has part of the turbo hanging out of the front grille, Istill not sure how he got it in there like that because i believe mine could not do that.

So generally the clubbie conversion is easier because you have less hassles with the turbo position, exhaust manifold, dump pipe and radiator, otherwise everything else would be generally the same.

As far as all the posts, I see it as comic relief, but the offer is still there, if anyone is interested and wants to drop in let me know.

Dan

come on guys lets not fight

They are both great conversions and have pros and cons like everything i think before you start one of these you need to look at what you waant out of it first whether in my case it is something which isnt mind blowing fast but rather smooth, reliable, fuel effecient and 5 gears and still pretty damn quick compared to nearly all A series engines *i went for the suzuki*

now if i wanted something turbod and real quick i would go the toyota

what do you want

they both work well you just need to use them for the right thing

POINT is there is nothing wrong with either things i would consider
how fast is fast enough for you
do you want a turbod car and the extra expense that goes with them intercooler/insurance
what will it be everyday car? weekend warrior

I reacon that it will take me 3k to get the g13b in my 850... gti motor that is.
But...
I am making the subframe....
I am doing the wiring....
I am doing the exhaust....
I am doing the cooling system.....
I am doing the fuel system....
I am doing a brake conversion...
I am sourcing all the other shite that is needed.....
so my cost will be a hell of a lot of time...

Yeah it will cost you less technically if you do it yourself. But I will probably be 10K out of pocket by the end of this little escapade...

Alot can be said about a positive attitude. It'll happen. If it doesn't you can laugh, openly, and we'll all say you're right.

But don't hack on him 'coz he's excited about it.

i just think my "EASY" comment was taken a bit out of context...i was not implying that the conversion was easy...far from it...i've posted a number of times bitching about how bloody hard just getting the 4efte outta the starlet was...i havent even gotten to the real tough part yet :P stay tuned for more bitching and pics :)
