how much cutting was involved to get the engine into the roundy? will you still use the original grille etc?

did you buy a half cut and get the gearbox etc? how many k's has the engine done?
so many questions! it looks awesome!
any idea how many hp it'll kick out once your done?
did you do the subframes yourself?

Engine Bay looks sweet mate.
How did you get the block and gearbox casing looking so awesome? It makes the whole engine bay look clean without any bling. I really want my engine to look like that.
Hats off to you mate.

Thomen,
The only bit of cutting was inner gaurds and small piece out of top slam panel for the rocker cover, i purchased a new grille a few weeks back and have it all mounted up. no mods needed there.I acutally brought a complete car as the donor for $50 , car was a pile of crap but every thing i needed was there.
Standard the engines are 110hp factory, not sure yet if i will put on a intercooler.
Subframe was made by a engineer friend of mine, took about a year for him to make it in his spare time , i was doing the bodywork at the time so no big deal.
I cant remember the last time i worked on it as im still waiting on my front brake setup to be finished by a work mate in his sparetime, once i get them back it should be complete in no time.

Craig

Andrew im thinking 3-4 months, i could finish it alot quicker but im not rushing things to just get it finished, plus $$$ is the problem.
Fitted up my superlites yesterday and put one on the rear, looks great, front hubs i reackon ill get in a couple of weeks.
Ahhh the secret to the"dazzling alloy block".... im almost to embarrassed to say  , i started out with degresser and scubbing it but in the end i painted it with alloy engine enamel
I think the only other way is to get it acid dipped from what ive been told.

Craig

Yeah I cleaned mine with a aluminium cleaner (very caustic) and it still only made alright. Then I sprayed coolant all over so now it looks crap :D .

Hooked up my fuel line today and put a battery in , it turned over a few times but now i can only hear the starter engage but not turn over???
Good news is i guess that the wiring didnt burn out when i hooked the battery up , allthough it didnt start?

Turns out the starter motor problem was just a bad earth,so sorted that and it fired up! no exhaust on it so was loud but wasnt running well mybe a vac leak i think , good news is that it runs!
Having troble sorting out the wires for my ingnition switch , i had to crank the engine by touching the starter wire to power otherwise if i conected it to the switch when it cranks over it would lose ingnition power...that make sense ??

going very slowly ,ive put next to no time into it over the last few weeks/months really been busy with other things.Ive found its been hard to get motavated aswell plus lack of $
That reminds me, my axles should be ready to pick up this week so ill kick my ass out in the garage this weekend if time permits and do abit, dam its so easy to lose motavation after all the time ive put into it in the past and fell like you are getting nowere! , but im told its all with it when its done and im sure it will be.I did however get my alternater all mounted with ajuster etc the other week, turned out i had to take my front cover off the engine and change the tensioner bolts for shorter ones as the new route for the belt was fouling on them, just need to tidy a few bits up and thats all finished.
If my mini has a regulater on the rh side i presume it had a genarater on the original engine is that right?
