I just find it amusing when people put alloy parts on cars that are can't be seen, and are barely significant to the weight of the car.
That said, you'll be the one laughing when my steel ones seize up!

Lol the opinion over here seems at the other end of the spectrum to the UK. fanatical obsessions with weight savings. Every gram counts!

I'm all for light weight, except I'm a tightass and would do it by adding holes into stock ones!

Haha yeah im much the same. A drill and holesaw is less expensive and lets you get creative.

Sorry sean, back on topic...

Decided to make my gauge loom today.. Which was full of fun when there's 7 of them including the tach. But got there in the end, (should) all plug in and go now when I get everything back in the car!

And today being most people's return to work my mates at the fabrication shop down the road were back open so I could buy some sheet metal to build some panels patch some holes and do some interesting things with the bonnet (but I won't show that until I'm confident it looks good)

Image

So I started by making the passenger side inner gaurd panel. Fits fairly snugly, clears the radiator, headlight bowl and wheel at full lock.

Welding thin ally sucks..

Have you checked if it will clear at full suspension compression?

That looks great Sean!!!

When you mention 'interesting things with the bonnet' my first thought was "I can feel a WRX-style scoop coming up...."

Watching with interest, doing great!!

Cheers,
Tricky

This be the reasoning for modifying the bonnet..

Image

Going for something similar to what carbon weezel sell as a 16v bonnet, but a little different as front of bonnet height isn't as critical. It's freakin hard to fabriate I can assure you.. Spent al day on in and still am having trouble getting the front to contour corectly

Il work it out eventually!

Started making my dash pod today, got it 90% there just need to trim the outside in vinyl and paint the face plate. There will be a speedo in there too when I get one.. Looks a bit big and bold now, but trimmed in black it won't be too bad I think, and it serves a purpose, clearing a space where the pedal box is.
