The motor was in the car when I bought it.
It was built to race standard by a workshop in Sydney, but there must be someone capable in Vic.

Made some progress today, cut away the passenger side inner gaurd, to make room for the radiator. i will make an aluminium panel to fit in its place. the other side only needed half the panel cut away to make room for the alternator. i also put the gearbox, block and head together and trial fitted it just to see if everything was where is should be, which it is!

with the amount of work and pictures you post Sean, yours is my favourite thread on any forum that i'm on!

that motor looks right at home in there too, seems like plenty of headroom to the bonnet. nice spacings for a top mount one day if you go that path.

I very much doubt it's the best mate but thanks for your kind words!

Did a bit more today

Cut the metal away to allow for the brake setup, also cut the dash rail and added some metal in to finish it nicely, not 100% neat but a bit of bog and ittle be fine for something you will never see..

Perfect position for the feet which is good!

Also made one of the new ram tubes, it's welded to the original inlet for the carb, the old ones left a lip on the inside which would of been in efficient, these are flow tested ones and are 40mm at the base so there Is no lip on the inside just smooth passage for the air

More as time permits

The old cheapo ram tubes were too big on the inside so they had a step where it met the carb.. These are far better, and of course far more expensive ones

Cheers! I told Santa not to worry with mini related stuff as he's got
No idea.. Instead i spent some time on dsn classics amongst other websites ordering bits and pieces!

Did a bit today, re made the gear selector holder so it's stronger. Also started running oil lines to get an idea of where things will go in the engine bay... Didn't take any pics though. There's a million little jobs to do now and they're the ones that take the most time!

it's the details that count, like your dashboard cutouts and the new inlet trumpets.. Its the 1% jobs that all add up to make the difference between good and great

Nothing has been open for me to buy materials and welding gas so all I've done is tidy up wiring!

Here's the spaghetti junction I started with after installing so much alarm, central locking and stereo gear.. Looked a bit messy:P

Image

And so far.. Still got some to go

Image

Note the 2005 hay scrutineering sticker taped on the dash still.. Obviously didn't take it off when I put the dash in!

Anyway.. Exciting I know

Its the 80/20 rule Sean, the last 20% of the work takes 80% of the time!!

Perserverence is the key!!

You will do just fine mate, stay with it!!

Cheers,
Tricky

Goodies from dsn classics arrived today! Chose to go non drilled door handles as they're a bit too wanky for me but subtle and well made they definitely are!

Hang on.....you won't get drilled handles because they're wanky but you'll get alloy bonnet hinges, handbrake quadrants and a firewall blocker thats probably heavier than just making one from thin sheet.
:?

Well for the purpose I need the blocker for it needs to have a bit of strength so no, couldn't make one out of thin sheet. The hinges are the only type you can get with the holes so I had to get them as the rusty old Morris ones look a bit poo.. And what's wanky about the handbrake quadrants?
