Yes, but some of them arent anything to write home about!

The GA-series engines had a different gearbox and bellhousing to the SR-series engines, and werent really tuned for Hp. But they will still fit into a Mini. Really, you want to get a hold of the SR-series engines, the SR18DE, the SR16DE or the SR16VE.

Of these, the SR16VE (Neo VVL) is the big performer with 175 Hp, more than the 140 Hp of the of the larger SR20DE. It had forged crank, pistons and rods. It also came std with piston oil squiters. They also came out in the B14 Nissan Lucino.

You might also want to try the SR20VE, the 16's bigger brother which is also a good performer at 190 Hp.

Does anyone know how a focus st170 engine would fit? Or a renault clio sport engine?
Only problems being they are 2 litres.

2l is still possible in Aus and should still be registerable. You can go 2l non turbo or 1.6 turbo.

That could be good, make a modern metro ??6r4?? equivalent. Rear engined 2 litre non-turbo in the back.

I've had similar thoughts about mid engined rear drive mini Van.
One day maybe.

Ooh, sounds like a project somebody from south of the border is doing!

MMmmmm, I have been a long term Nissan fan so this definately might be a way to go!

I will start having a look at wreckers and calling around to see if I can find myself a front cut - or complete parts car for the van...

I hope to have the floors, sills and A panels done reasonably soon. I can then clean the bottom of the car up to the standard wanted and get the car off the rotisserie onto stands to mock up the engine... Spose I should talk to an engineer soon...

I have been looking around for half cuts and the VTEC half cuts are super expensive - twice that of the SR20ve!

Do we know for certain that we can shoehorn these engines into the mini engine bay? I have spoken to my engineer and he has said it should be fine to do if the brake upgrades are sufficient. I will meet him within the next month in person with some photos and the van to show him where I want to go - hopefully I will get approval.

What kind of vtec kit are you looking for? The b16a will fit, very popular conversion in the uk. I think they use the b18c as well, although i think the only difference is a taller block.

honestly havent search to any large extent - was thinking that a B18c would be the way to go. My understanding is that I could then fit the Integra 6 speed box which would allow me to have a car that has short ratios whilst maintaining decent HWY revs...

I hopefully will get onto the passenger floorpan tonight.

Well I finally got some time on the weekend to start fitting the passenger front floor pan. The firewall panel was rusted out beneath te floor so I had to cut that out as well and fabricate a new bottom - will take some photos and post for you. The bottom of the inner guard was gone, the inner sill was gone, obviously the outer sill is gone but I have new ones ready to go in.

I am not going to weld anything to the tunnel or front to rear floor pans together until I make up a frame to sit under the floor to make sure everything is flat and straight.

I have found a few spare days to work on the mini recently :D and have achieved a little bit. I finished off the new passenger floor, inner guard and the double panel on the fire wall. I have filled the old shifter hole in the centre of the fire wall and have installed a new centre tunnel as the old one as nasty...

I hope to have the floors and sills finished off within the next couple of months. I will have to install a new rack and the subframe and fabricate the mounts for the new engine...

I still have not made my mind up about any particular engine as yet. The VTECs sing to me as do the SR series but I wish to retain AC on the car and I dont think I will have room for the pump if I go either way with these engines... Maybe some trickey mounting systems are in order...
