im told the bikes never performed very well
something about them not being very well balanced because they where a single rotor engine

As for the engine being to big to register , ive seen alot of 323 hatches and corollas engineered and registered running 13b turbos ??

Fairly sure alot of them where only 1300cc - 1500cc???

It could pay to read the rules before cutting the metal. Don't believe what you get told on forums, do your own research and get the facts.

The authorities have set rules as to what is allowed and why. Just because a Corolla can fit a particular motor does not mean a Mini can do the same thing. In case you have not noticed a Corolla is a slightly different car to a Mini.

My boss has told me stories of some mini's he knew of/helped build.

One of these he helped build had a 1600cc ford engine turbo'd but it was never any good racing because the driver kept blowing gearboxes in it trying to drive it to hard.

And he told me of a mini with a 13b with a gearbox of some old race kart thing, i cant remember the type of kart it was, which was clocked doing 200mph.

As far as the legality of engine conversions, i think the weight of the car may be a factor in the equation of determining the largest legal capacity for conversion (pretty sure i read this somewhere, but could be dreaming it up)

Morris , i know what your saying and agree that research into that area will have to be done before starting anything , but currently none of that really concerns me as its only on paper and nothing has been started yet.

At the moment im more interested in what general problems you guys have come across with conversions as im not to familiar with fwd cars
so any tips on things i should look out for relating to brake or driveshaft modification and all the things that go along with it would be of more help

Just look through some of the threads about gti conversions and you will pick up a fair bit about driveshafts and how to get them.

Good thinking! A conversion is a conversion. They all need similar skills to pull off. Cutting, welding, machining and paperwork.

Probably because a Corolla weighs more than 800kg so the engine capacity multiplier changes to a higher number

I.e: The max capacity in cc's for all cars weighing...

...under 800kgs

Nat Asp - original weight of car x 3.0
Turbo/Super - original weight of car x 2.5

...800-1100kgs
Nat Asp - original weight of car x 4.0
Turbo/Super - original weight of car x 2.75

...1100+
Nat Asp - original weight of car x 5.0
Turbo/Super - original weight of car x 3.0
