Years ago when 'fast fours' was still good, Julian Edgar (see www.autospeed.com if you don't know of him) was going down the awd swift route and discovered that Suzuki Australia sold something like 6 new awd swifts in australia total. Needless to say he had a bit of trouble finding one for a conversion. I would rule it out unless you can get a drivetrain from japan.

Alto is a better bet, for size reasons too, but again from japan.

honk has a complete awd suzuki swift set up. Ain't seen him around here much. He may still have it and want to part with it.

honda civic shuttle, very rare.....

I dare say two members of this very forum may have a few words to say......

On last accounts there were only some 500 Civic wagons imported into Australia during 1988 – 1992 (the AWD production years). Of these, only 5-6% were actually the AWD model.

So rare, yes, but we got 'em!!

Cheers,
Tricky

I remember the article from when I bought that car. I don't think he ever finished it, did he?

There was a swift AWD on eBay last year, sold for about $2500.

Simon K has two of those Honda Civic Shuttle AWD - donors for his AWD van conversion.

I think the figure I was quoted by the local honda dealer was 4-500 civics of any type in those years, and the wagons were all AWD, but I couldn't imagine there would've been more than 50 of them....

and yep, we got 'em :)

indeed I do..... well, bits from one I wrecked, and another whole car... I'd sell it for the right price, including an injected DOHC 1600 front-cut to go with it ;)

progress is slow, but consistent... the van is upside down having it's nether regions refurbished as we speak

I actually chased around and got a quote for Suzuki Alto RSR mechanicals, quite reasonable at around $1500 (call it $2K), but I found ringmini, and thought "550cc's, stuff that, I'll take a 1600 and put a turbo on that instead"

The front on that thing is sooooo long. It looks cool but is just a bit too out of proportion.

Doesn't look any longer to me, just that the guards have been 'massaged' to the max!

What's with a Subaru Justy...? Pretty smal, AWD and pretty strong, imho.

we never had them in Australia... there is a ute/pickup in the Netherlands that has a Suzuki G13B driving Justy AWD gear
