Well just got the error code from the car, error 31 which relates to the Manifold Absolute Pressure or Air Flow Meter problem (failure?). So at least it ain't super serious (I guess). By the way I gather EFI engines run one or the other ie either a MAP sensor or an airflow meter? Which does a 4EFTE run. Also what does it look like? Also given this is the only code it means that I didn't bugger my fuel pump and I would also assume that she's OK inside.

Cheers

Great that Toyota is gunna have a go Matt, hope they can sort a few things out for you. Maybe you should investigate disabling some the features you do not want....I know, some are designed to protect the engine....but....maybe there are some cheat codes/ECU hard links around on the web  :?:

Ohhh and get the name of Rob's contact for the seats in Bates Motorsport...if anyone knows how to tickle a Toyota ECU it may be them

Check the wires to your AFM

There was only one dodgy connection on a Pintara I used to own,
and it gave the same symptoms as yours. One new connector and :D

If you need a name at Bates try and grab Geoff Forshaw, he is team manager and while not old cut his teetn racing Super Minis with his dad, he probably would like to see your conversion

matt the MAP sensor is near the inlet manifold. On the 4th inlet runner there is a nipple on it with a rubber hose hooked on it, on the other end of that hose is the map sensor.

Guess what I worked out what is the MAP sensor and the tube for it had been knocked off/disconnected. I tried to erase the ECU but the error remains but I did manage to get the idle right down so that's something. So I guess I'm up for a new MAP sensor. Anybody have an idea of cost?

Cheers

Matt

Thats him I'm pretty sure....Mr Fixit now for Bates Motorsport....stays behind and waits for them to bring the wrecked rally cars back for him to fix :!: Good idea about going down to Hume....they might enjoy the innovation and maybe admire the power to weight  :D

Yeah thanks guys I will give him a ring tomorrow. I will give it to Toyota tomorrow as they seemed pretty helpful on the phone (especially given the number of knockbacks for different things I have received lately). I will ask them to have a look at the boost solenoid as well as I have no idea what I am doing there. I let you know how it goes and what Geoff had to say...

Cheers

Ministar, I can't believe you actually found a Toyota dealer who will look at it!

Most of them run screaming when you say "import" let alone "import motor in a Mini".

Post up the dealer name, may be handy for others to know.

Canberra Toyota in Phillip ACT 02 6222 1800 (I rang EVO motorsport and they couldn't fit me in for at least two weeks so they said talk to ? at Canberra Toyota). Yeah I was majorly surprised I tell ya. The guy in the parts shop has taken a little bit interest and has been helpful when I was trying to get a TPS (the last one in Oz!), I think his name is Des?.
