Here are some photos of my sub-frame, I think i have had the motor in and out of the car at leat a dozen times now, anyway it is starting to get there.

I am in the process of rebuilding the engine mounts now so that i can finish of the subframe, hopefully this will be done in the next two weeks.

Striped 63,

Looks great!

I gather that is the standard turbo (ct9)? Have you got any photos of your gear linkages?

Any photos of your subframe?

Keep up the great work.

Daniel.

PS. with a photo like that i won't be losing my motivation. Thanks.

It's not mine. It's a fella in NZ that Brad (13secmini) put me onto in June last year(!). I posted a pic of it in one of your earlier threads. It was enough inspiration to give up on the GTi and favour of the GT starlet.

It is a standard CT9. I doubt that you would be abe to fit anything bigger in there.

Dean,

My intention was to put the turbo over the gearbox, but i was interested how somebody managed to get it all in there as mine is tighter than a nuns nusty.

Striped 63, when you mentioned Brad's mate in NZ, that would be Andy (I think), I emailed him a year and a half ago and he sent me some photos. At that stage he had chopped the front panel of and positioned the motor in the engine bay without the subframe. I wonder if he extended the front a little to pick up some much needed room when welding a new front panel back on? Anyway looks great.

Daniel

Andy, spot on. No extension required though.

I poured new urethane into my engine mounts last night. I'm happy with the result although it takes 7 days for the uretane to reach full strength, that means no work in the engine bay for 7 days. Lucky I'm going away for 5 days.

For those of you who are interested i chopped out the old rubber and then burnt it out with a gas torch. I then sanded all the old dags of rubber off and primed it with urethane primer.
