Just a thought.

Has anyone come accross an airbagged mini?

It looks like it should work, but have been told it is impossible.

try this one...

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... aulic+pimp

I've heard that it can't be done because the airbags you can buy are too big, but there's a mob in Wagga who I'm sure would be able to tell you categorically. He runs a mod shop, and has a little suzuki van he was demoing the suspension on, parked next to the cut down van with a huge V8 in it that's apparently a regular at summernats - one of the wagga guys (Bromley) will give you details if you want

It could be done but the list of mods will go on and on...
They would have to make up some sort of bracket that ataches to the rear trailing arm to hold the bags.. And for the front who knows? Aparently the bags are just too wide to fit where the mini suspension system fits... The bag would have to be like 100mm max to fit in there...???

This kit is a hydraulic kit not an airbag suspension kit...
Same but different

They can both make you car bounce.. Aparently the air suspension give a soft floating like ride, sorta defeats the purpose onputting it in a mini, it will totally screw up the handling...

I've found it!!!! It's not a bag it's a can? The whole setup is the same, the cans are new on the market and are similar to a coil over shock, but without a spring. The best advantage over a bag is that it will not compromise the handling characteristics of the mini, and from my understanding you should be able to harden or soften the ride by regulating the air.

And jumping, it should get the front of the mini a good foot of the ground without much trouble.

GOODSHOW!!!

so does it replace the rubber cone/hydro unit (in the same location), or do you fit them instead of the telescopic dampers... if it's the latter, make sure you do lots of reinforcement on those mounts otherwise the first jump and they'll tear out!

:D

In the front it would replace the cone/hydro unit with minimal fuss or mods. In the rear though you would have to, strenghten the mounting points top and bottom where you would usually mount the damper. (or as you say first jump, you'd have them poking up through the rear parcel shelf) also the can is 80mm in diameter, you would have to make room for it behind the rear wheels. Dampers would only be what..? 35-40mm at a guess. And that would be the hard part, other than that you just have to fit a tank, valves, gauges, a switch box and run your air hose.

You've gotta admit it would be cool!!

So lets get this straight....
At the front you are going to remove the standard rubber spring or hydro unit and at the rear you are going to mount it direct between the body and the trailing arm.
Sounds like you have given this a lot of thought.
