Hi everyone I'm new to this website. I have read through detailed the engine conversion of the Starlet engine into a Mini, but I can't seem to find a Swift conversion. I'm still looking at the positives and negiatives of both. Can You help.

My situation at the moment is I'm rebuilding a Classic Mini which hopefully I'll have the rust repaired, bottom paint, and on 4 wheels with the engine built and in by Xmas. But everyone knows "Best laid plays of mice and men..." will always change.

I also have a Clubman Mini waiting for an engine conversion and I have purchased a subframe 2/3 built. I'm currently buying parts for the Clubman.

Can U direct me to a Swift detail conversion like the Starlet's on this website.
Also provide info on which might be the best way to go.

Why don't you list what your objectives are for the engine?

outright performance, reliability, turbo, non-turbo, fuel economy, handling or straight line speed, cost, are you doing it yourself or paying someone?

From what I can see is the Starlet turbo is a lot more common because it is more available these days, the Swift GTI is a bit older these days but I reckon once it has a turbo on it it's capable of making the same power as a Starlet mini.
I reckon you can pick up a GTI cheaper than a Starlet but the starlet will be turbo-ed and their for make more power but if you chuck the same size turbo on the GIT it'll do the same job.
Basically their both twin cam 16 valve, 1.3L, 5 speed manual, similar weights etc etc.
I'd like to do a GTI supercharger conversion just to be different, give that a go I reckon :D

My advice, finish the classic youve got and decide what you want out of another one. Then wait 3 months and save some cash. Then build it.

^^ good advise. Its always good to have your money ready to go, before you start the project. Otherwise it will be a 3yr+ project.
