Well, bought some brake line and fuel line today. Before I get too deep into it, does this setup look all right for the brake lines?

Image

Since I am converting to a stepped bore dual master I have to make all new ones.
Bottom line goes to a splitter then left and right calipers.
Rear line just runs back to the rear as per original.

Also what kind of bias setup is required. Does it need the original pressure limiting valve on the rears or does the stepped bore take care of that? What did the minis run with this master on the rears?

These lines are just mocked up up at this stage, just wanted to confirm before I go and make them all.

Cheers

One further question to ask would be : Can I use an aftermaket bias valve instead of the original valve?

From memory the tandem cyls are the same bore size through both upper & lower sections

& i can`t see why you couldn`t use an after market adjustable rear pressure limiting valve, so yes, i`d give it a go

Looks about right.

I used a standard rear limiting valve and it seems to work well. I figured if I had bias issues I would replace it with an aftermarket adjustable bias valve.

The DOTARS regulations say you can have an adjustable bias valve, but it can't be able to be adujsted from within the car. (or something along those lines)
So as long as its mounted underneath you should be sweet.

Hi, my name is Dennis Turner(alias Mishy) I am currently doing a Honda VTEC 1100 conversion. I suggest that you look up minispares .com. On their home page go to articles, then to Calvers Corner, then to brakes, then to split systems adjustable bias valve. You will find that your pipes are arse about, I am using the same M/C with no booster. Hope this info helps, Regards,Dennis.

Hmm, You may be correct, thanks for that.

I tried to double-check but everything else just seemed to quote the same article so nothing to compare it to. I did find this though, which seems to indicate the top pipe is the front, not %100 reliable though.

And this thread, which seems to indicate the same. And it does say they were ass about and caught people out.

It is definitely a stepped bore, sounds like there were a number of options in the UK, some weren't stepped, but this one is.

I still cant get my head round how the smaller bore is better for the front brakes.
But in this case I don't have to know it just has to be right. So I'll re do them.

Can you post a thread on your conversion. (or at least PM me some pics)

Have you seen the blue Vtec 1100 on here.

A lot of his early pics are broken links now though.

If you need any info let me know. Also what are you doing on yours for brakes?
I am yet finalise mine but I think I finally have 3 options that would work, (plus a lot that won't) depending on where you compromise.

Cheers

Yep, I'm afraid he's right. The front brakes go to the top of the M/C and the rears to the bottom.

I remember getting them wrong when I first hooked it up. I got no fluid to the front calipers.
This pic was taken after I fixed them up.

Thanks both of you. An excellent example of why this site is great.
This conversion caper would be a damn site harder without all this good advice ausmini supplies. And that's saying something cause it's not exactly a walk in the park.
