Hi all,

Here's a little bit more un-realistic concepts for the mini.

Would a 1.3L fiat engine fit? It's called a JTD engine, and 74hp.

Let's no forget that being a diesel we have more torque, so it will feel more powerful that this. And apparently they can get over 80mpg.

I'm not in any hurry to do an engine conversion, just wondering if anyone's done one of these or something similar. I've seen some daihatsu engines, but is this one too big?

It says theyre the smallest ever. So it looks promising for that.
And its reported to do 3.3l/100, which i wouldnt mind at all.

Sure it is a diesel so off boost would be 'lacking', but it could be good in a van as a long distance car, but is it worth it?

Im defs interested in the size of the engine, and the availability of the engine.

There is a handful of diesel Mokes/Minis running an import charade turbo diesel powerplant. Great economy, but performance is about the same as a 998 Mini!

If the fiat donk is physically similar it should fit and provide greater performance. Don't forget 74hp is very similar to a stock Cooper S and the diesel would have greater torque. :D
