Sorry to drag this post from the depths of the net. I just wondered if people still felt this was about their conversions? As in how easy are they to live with?
Cheers.

A few weeks ago I drove my very newly finished conversion from Kalgoorlie to Perth for the final engineering inspection in one weekend.

Its a 600 km drive each way and the saturday was 33 deg and the sunday 35.

I had the alternator pivot bolt loosen on the trip and that was it. It warmed up sitting in Perth traffic on sunday (almost 100deg) but the rad overflows to the ground, so when I add an expansion tank this should help a bit.

My thoughts are that if you added a bit of sound deadener and a stereo, you could easily drive my car every day. It has a very heavy clutch, so that might need some work, but overall its pretty easy to live with.

My conversion is relatively sedate compared to most. Basically stock 4efte, but all adjustable suspension and no sound proofing or stereo to weigh it down. (Although I have a pair of quite heavy wrx seats and a woodgrain dash, so go figure)

Its basically made as a reliable, balanced (hence std motor) weekend warrior / hill climb / sprint car.

As previously said, if you make it easy to drive everyday it will most likely be easy to drive everyday. At least as easy as using a std a series mini would be, and more fun also.

There you go - they can be made ultra reliable or they can be made so they push the mechanical envelope - your choice.

So, in saying all this, yes they can be used quite happily as a daily! Does this answer the question??

Cheers,
Tricky
