The nissan brake calipers are similar design to the magna. The magna are an alloy caliper the disc is 9" solid. The thing I found easy for a conversion is the disc rotor has the wheel brgs as part ot the center of disc. The brgs are same as a holden[HT I think] and trailer stub axles are cheap. Machine the stub to fit into mini swing arm and mount the caliper mounting bracket to the original back plate position.

Just one thing to note about those Skyline rear discs (for anyone who wants to know) - those ones Tricky have are off a Skyline Gts NON-Turbo, not a Gts-t (Turbo). All NA Skylines (R32 onward) are 4 stud and turbos are 5 stud.

The NA rear dics are solid, turbo rear discs are vented (and bigger - about 270-280mm). The calipers on the turbo are also single opposed. I just went out to the garage to double check on my Gts-t.

So if you are thinking about using Skyline discs, just make sure you get the right ones :D

I'm 99.999% sure they came of an Australian delivered boxy Skyline anyway - 80's model... nothing special

Still, enough rear braking power for a Mini any way you cut it.

That would be this one Simon.....

Yes you did say GTS, but a GTS has been released right through from R31 to R34 Skylines :D The R31 GTS-R is the car that Richards/Skaife drove.

R31 GTS mags are only 15" and have the same PCD as a Suzuki Swift Gti 8)

I have been thinking of using the Gti calipers, but they are cast iron.

I guess there are a few calipers that you can use, but I am yet to see one as light and compact as Simon's CRX/Civic ones (unless you go custom KAD etc, or motorbike)

Brilliant Simon, truly brilliant (again!)

Cheers,
Tricky

Has anyone done any research on the compact (and lightweight) motorcycle calipers.... there are some real trick 4 and 6 spotters out there, and won't cost too much

Cheers

Michael

Yamaha released 4-pot calipers that ran ventilated discs on their late model FJ1200's I believe. But there is still the problem of what to do about the emergency brake.

Not sure if it has been discussed yet, but is there really a need for disc brakes on the rear of a mini?
