Ina,
Adjustable are a bit of a must these days - if you are prepared to use the function.
A lot of people sprout the values of fully adjustable shocks but never bother to tune them into their current driving environment - a waste really.
If you are customising your suspension setup with unequal length upper and lower control arms (A-arms), or however you are doing it, the question you have to ask yourself is: Is the shock acting directly on the upper (or lower) control arms, or is it remotely acting via a linkage (F1, Indy car style - my prefernce).
This will then govern your placement of the shock and its design and features.
Once you have this sorted this out, you can then get advice from Ohlins as to the correct shock for the job.
Cheers,

well i want as many points of adjustability in my suspension setup to compensate for slight inaccuracies in subframe fabrication and to allow a professional to tune the setup to be as good as it possibly can...i think not going adjustable with the shocks would be a mistake...but then i could be wrong
as for the style of shock i was thinking going with the standard config (ie. directly acting on the top control arm) rather than doing something similar to the z-cars people and going with the linkage style...
ST44's are $1350 a piece...wouldnt need em for the back though...so would only need 2 for the front

but that kinda absorbs more than my entire front-end suspension budget just in shocks
