Slushbox - Automatic. Autotragics work via a series of oil pressures and clutches. Affectionately referred to as slushbox for the oil slushing around in the I guess. :roll:

Spick = Hispanic = Manuel (pron. Man-well) = Manual.

Sorry for the hijack but I've re-considered the intentions of 'Striped'. If the auto wil fit, she'll make a good cruiser for Mrs 'Striped 63'. Want to see if the a/c will go in too.

The AWD van however, will not be auto nor a/c'd.

Really? Bugger, I'll still go check this one out just to make sure. and here's me thinking "how could it be bigger?".

yes its still worth a look, you got me thinking with the smaller motors that there might be enough room for an auto. also the thing weighed a ton.

doesnt look that different from the manual one...certainly not dimension wise...if the manual one fits (which it does) then there's no reason the auto one shouldnt...

Yep, that's f..ked that idea right up the bung hole. The portion of the box above the driveshaft will require the tower to be cut. And "Dassa big no no".

if you look at the bottom left hand corner of the first pic that extra oil pan will take out where the control arm is meant to go

It looks as high (top to bottom) and as deep (front to back) as the Spick box but it doesn't look as wide (left to right).

There was a mini with an auto Charade Turbo 3-cyl at the Mini show in Melbourne a few years back. I think it fit better cause it is one cylinder shorter, i guess that buys you a bit of space. Should go better than a 660cc one too!

JC,

From the looks of it, using the Ol' Mark 1 eyeball, it wont fit.

That chain drive to the diif sits up too high and will definately fowl the tower.

But hey, lets get some dimensions just to make sure. :wink:

Cheers,
Andrew
