Post subject:  Ign Advance curve

Hi
Just thought I would run my advance specs by you guys for any feedback.
1275 stock cam. Pulsar dizzy. 45weber.
Final best curve (seat of pants).
1000rpm 14deg
2000rpm 24deg
2500rpm 29deg
2800rpm 34deg
3000rpm 34deg all in
No vac adv
98 octane , ngk bpr5es, no pinging.

Does all in seem too quick? Seems to like it.

Looks good. If it cranks over ok and doesnt ping then sounds like your onto a winner.

New Bosch starter from Tony so no problems there. As long as no ping no prob I guess. Just not similar to any of the curves that I have seen online. Closest I have seen is all in at 3750.

If your worried then fit a heavier spring and back it off a bit.

The last one I did was 30deg all in at 3200rpm. I tried a number of springs which gave all in at 3000 and 3500 as well. I did not notice any difference on the road tests. I could have gone higher in the static advance as it was only 10deg.

Some of the advance curves using a 14deg plate would need a higher all in rpm around 4000rpm.

Thanks for that. I remember seeing that curve a while back but didnt realise that it was all in at around 3k crank rpm. I was more recently looking and comparing to the 123 dizzy curves that don't seem as agressive. I just pulled the outer 2 springs from the pulsar dizzy to get this result. I also welded /reduced the slot to limit to 20deg crank advance.
Happy to leave it as is then. I was really trying to eliminate contributing factors to this engine vibration that I am getting. I thought ignition would be unlikely though.

I hope you find the vibration without having to pull it all down. I had one in my last car which came in around 95kph and stopped at around 105kph. Was really annoying for highway travel. Never found the reason, just drove it above or below.

Yeah thanks. It seems ok or not as noticeable on the road when moving. I think I will just see how it goes. Engine and exhaust mounts might soften up with some k's on it.
Idler gear is a bit rattly too so if no good after a while I will pull it out again and get the flywheel and clutch balanced and reshim the idler. Fingers crossed though.
