A 1962 would have had Aussie made trim which you can’t get new. Do you have the seats with tube ends “peg legs” or the later seats with a flat section at the front and rounded at the rear?

Newton is not for our 850’s. maybe ok for cooper s, deluxe was a bit different
The coloured seat material for a 62 green, yellow, blue, or red patterned material is the difficult one to find these days.
The quality of the interior was the primary factor that sold me on my 62 850 combined with the fact that it hasn’t been significantly dicked with and was low mileage.
The other parts of trim are grey thick Matt vinyl with little or no grain. Not so hard to recreate and common with the 997 and 998 Cooper but in their case the material was also coloured red and blue and maybe green.

I have attached a file that has the seat covers that I have. I have a bit of blue, red and green. The blue was glued to the back rear and the red I found under the black front seat covers. Would all of them be an original colour for a 1962?

I think you would have had the speckled type for 1962. The colour depends on the colour of the car.

The striped kind I think came in later. The change points are in John Sneddons book. You can also tell the age from the pad under your knees - early type had a piped seam and the later had a rolled edge

The Newton stuff is nothing like what was fitted at Zetland.

The Australian made vinyls were closer in appearance to American stuff than British. Maybe because the local manufacturers were making the trim for GM-H and Ford and basing it on American products.

I was lucky enough to find enough of the blue fleck the do my front seats with just a very small bit leftover. I had to make do with the rear which are bit faded being approx 58 years old.
