Hi all

I’m trying to turn over the engine. When I turn the key to the first stop, I get dash lights and electric fuel pump runs. When I turn to start, nothing happens and no clicking noise. But I can get the car to turn over by jumping the two posts on the starter solenoid.

I’ve just pulled the ignition switch and cleaned and tested it which was fine. I’ve checked continuity of the wire from ignition to solenoid and that was ok.

How do I test the starter solenoid?

Cheers

Sounds like the ignition switch. I bought a new one with this fault. Took back...

Yes. Tested using jumper cables and the faulty solenoid didn’t click. Gave it some percussive maintenance and it did open and close but got stuck open again.

Replaced with another one and got the engine cranking.
