What do you guys think these are worth? No rust, original except for the colour. I was referring to this comment. "original except for the colour." I hate when people say original. To give you a guide this is $7500. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burpeng ... 1230695137 |

The guy has asked for an opinion from the 'experts' on this site. Not brain dead observations. Looks to be a good start for a resto project. As far as being "not original" apart from the colour, it has a Cooper speedo binnacle and padded dash rails. Probably looking at a $20k plus spend on a restoration. |

Chris - it appears there are a lot of original parts on the car that are in good usable condition. The interior trim and door cards should come up well with a clean. Can't see enough of the headlining but if it's clean and intact that's a bonus. The doors and boot seem to fit well so it doesn't look like there's been any major accident damage. If the body is straight with minimal rust it would make a great basis for a project. Do you have a pic of the ID plate (on the firewall behind the master cylinders)? |

As Stibbsy mentioned about $20.000 on restoration. If you cant do most of the work yourself $40.000.That is why a CS that has been fully restored costs a great deal. By the way most of the body work that has to be done takes a lot of time. If it is done correctly. The average cost of a full resto now on a vehicle is $100.000 that is a ground up .Not a problem if you have a ford or Monaro the value is there. I have seen an Iso Revolta resto which cost $420.000. DO your sums before o start. Allen |

Obviously the word "restoration" has a different meaning to different people. I wouldn't be spending $20,000 on a 1966 Mark 1 Deluxe "restoration", let alone $40,000. And yet plenty (I would even say most) of Mini owners are driving around in very presentable cars that are displayed at Show and Shines, getting favourable comments, while only spending a fraction of those amounts. I am very happy with the panel and paint job on my car and I can assure people it cost nowhere near either of those amounts. |
