mine also covers the body number stamp - can *just* feel the numbers through the sticker it's also more original if the sticker is placed at a slight angle, I've never seen an original one that was put on straight |

From what I have been told by ex factory employees they used various methods to “hide”the body code stamps to prevent any confusion as these were only used as a reference internally by the body shop at the factory and not intended to be visible on a finished car. Under a paint sticker was one of these hiding spots. Also under rubber strips of drain channel, behind voltage regulators. floor of battery tray, behind compliance plate ect. ect. Not on Minis, was meaning BMC or Leyland cars generally. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The 850 and Cooper both had their body number hidden under the ID plate up until mid to late 1963. Then they moved to the radiator shroud |

The Morris 1100 has the body number hidden under the removable battery tray on the inner guard. The little wheel Moke and 998 Big Wheel Moke have the body number hidden behind the ID plate. |
