Post subject:  Prices for 1999 1275cc SPI Mini Cooper Engines?
Hi guys
I am looking to sell off my 1275 engine from my 1999 JDM Mini Cooper as will be doing a Honda Vtec conversion.
Just wondering what the prices are and what they are being sold for now?

How many km has the engine done? Original or been rebuilt? Manual or Auto? Would come with wiring and ECU and air con parts?
Probably need more info.

Generally speaking, the 99 model engines would probably be the least sought after of the 1275's. Because they don't have distributor you can really only run it in factory spec with all the EFI stuff. Build quality was questionable too - my 99 engine didn't even make it to 100,000km before needing a tear down and rebuild of the engine and box.

My uneducated price guide range - upto $1000 for engine and box only, upto $2000 with everything to make it run for a manual.

It is a manual imported from Japan. It currently has 55,000km on the clock and engine is all original.
I'll be selling engine/gearbox along with ECU.

So would anywhere around the $500-$1000 sound right if someone was asking for a price for my engine?

I believe a 1999 would be an MPi but not sure about the Jap version.

A 1999 jdm mini engine is SPI, but just uses an MPI block.

In that condition with the ECU and all associated components I would not be selling it for less than $3500.
Anyone who offers you less is just trying to rip you off.

Hi, as a private sale with no warranty I would suggest its worth $2500 complete. A dealer would sell for $3500 to $4500, but offer warranty. Cheers Lindsay
