There's some interesting articles celebrating 60 years of the Mini on the BMW Australia website. One of special interest to me is about the NSW Police Cooper S and another on the BMC Works rally cars. Also the annual HAY event. https://www.mini.com.au/ https://www.mini.com.au/60-years/ Thanks to gtogreen1969 for the alert. |

Ohhh Yes...Classic Mini History and association with their sales strategy is the best thing that BMW came up with to promote the BINI... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=98757 |

I may be biased but I fail to see the similarity between that produced by BMC/Leyland and that offered by BMW on today's market particularly when it comes to the Australian market. BMC Australian sales staff were most concerned prior to the release in 1961 that the phrase "mini" in the name would be most detrimental to the sales success thus the Australian vehicle was named Morris 850. BMW invested heavily in the Rover Group in the 1990's all in the name of getting their hands on the brand name MINI, his investment was so great it nearly brought the BMW company to its knees. I wonder if BMW will be willing to invest in Australia's 60th Anniversary celebrations of the release of the Morris 850 in March 2021 - Time will tell. |
