How many balls are there? And what are the other blobs? It doesn't look like normal oil.
The balls are too small for the diff bearings. The double row race on the inner end of the mainshaft often suffers from the cage breaking up but if the balls are lose, it is well gone. But the balls look even too small for that bearing.

Hi bill there are 2 that the plug magnet caught. The oil blobs are bits of metal and oil.It has been running with a wind when in hi rev in first and second gear. gear shifting seemed ok though.could it be 1st and 2nd syc hub failed.

Synchro hub balls maybe? Perhaps old ones that flew apart and were left in the box after someone smacked the end of the mainshaft during a previous rebuild?

Tend to agree with slide. The ball looked bigger than it is.
Speed hub detent balls look like they are 7/32inch - about 5.6mm.

If it came from the current speed hub, you're not like to be changing those gears.
But not nice having those in the box.

It might be box out it has a wind / grind in hi rev in 1/2 gear can the balls just fall out from sync gear.

I don't have a lot of experience with badly worn boxes - only my own that have needed just bearings and sychro cones etc.
I know rod-change boxes wear the selector fork badly on 1 of the 2 forks (can't remember which) - whether that's enough to let the 2 parts of the speed hub pull apart enough to let the detents out?
I tend to agree with slide's comment about the balls from a previous strip/build. Not everyone cleans out the gearbox case like winabbey on here!

Thanks for the help
The motor came from a mini place about 7 years ago . I’ve had it out about 4 years ago to fix diff pin.
I put x pin in it only had 1 pin. It’s a 1330 . What should I look for ware wise when I take box out . New parts etc..

Definitely syncro energiser springs & balls. Never seen one fly apart in the box, only when disassembling.

After rod change or 4 synchro remote box? I have a rod change or two.
Gearcase and matching diff housing.
These are Australian clubby ones, not A+.
P/no 22G1832

Edit:
1 has gears (unknown condition) but no diff,
1 is bare.
Sorry no flywheel housings.

BOTH now sold.
