I see a lot of requests for paint codes for our BMC/Leyland Mini's, myself included. Remember those old recipies had lead in them. If you have sample off the vehicle where the paint hasn't been exposed to the elements, a paint shop may match it. I eventually got my Crystal White from Supercheap who do colour mixing, be it in acrylic. Where my local paint shop, where all the local spray painters go couldn't find a paint a recipe for the Crystal White paint code. When the colour was finally matched, it came out as Mitsubishi White. A few others on here have had the same outcome with their colours matching to Mitsubishi colours. |

It would also help to know which product you are going to use as well. I can look up the current formulas that are in the ppg database Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

I take it that would mean the old BMC/Leyland colour names would be listed for members to add the formula and the paint brand and type they have had mixed for their cars? e.g. I had Marine Blue colour matched and supplied with the formula in 2K in BASF "Baslac" line; someone else could list the same colour mixed in PPG with a formula from PPG's tinting system? |

That's what I'm suggesting. Whether it's actual mixing formula that's listed or just the BASF or PPG (or whoever) internal code such as the Lake Green BEJ6 is open to discussion. We get regular requests for paint mixing formula. This would speed up the process and improve consistency by reducing the need to get colours matched by eye. |
