My neighbor bought this replica looks ok no rust ,paint job rough, needs bolts tightened on doors cracked side window .The modifications have been done well.1100 motor runs well .Can drive the car with a tidy up and it will look ok .Looks like a rover grille . John Sneddon will have a look at the car next week to check the numbers. The car must have been garaged all the time as there is no rust in the boot area or anywhere else, sills are original.Drip channels have all been removed ,no cracks in panels there must be a history on this mini ?? Hi Allen, According to the body plate and number in the firewall its a 1968 Mini Matic - actually the 18th built. But it's had so many modifications since the factory it's difficult to tell As mentioned in your other thread this is a replica of a Monaco rather than a Broadspeed. This car: Attachment: s-l1600-52.jpg Monaco - you can see the different shaped window, smooth curve on the roof: ![]() Broadspeed - these have a completely different rear end with a Kamm tail ![]() |

I don't think that it is a replica at all. At least I wouldn't call it a replica because (from that one picture) it doesn't look close to a either. It looks as though the C pillar and rear of the roof was modified so that the rear screen slants forward more. To accomplish that the rear side windows then needed to be modified - to cater for the height difference. In turn the back part of the roof needed to be massaged. I'd say that they would have had inspiration more from chopped hot rods. |

The other photo of the rear - perhaps you could say inspired by a Monaco rather than a replica |

It would be good to see a side view. But it definitely isn’t a replica. It’s a rear chopped car. As you’d already know the rear lights aren’t Aussie Mini-matic as the matic has the round lights. |

Was common to convert tailights to clubbh style and door change needs a bit more metal work but with correct skills is do-able so if you are capable of doing the roof mods the door change and rear lights are a walk in the park |

I wonder what Bill Buckle would say about someone taking a mould of one of his cars and using it in this way?... |

Obviously the person who did the work had to change the side windows, C pillars, roof etc so anything else is possible. I am sure that John will be able to get a better picture of the car when he sees it. |
