Post subject:  Rear lamp sockets/reversing lights - possible solution ?

I had some NOS tail lamp bases that had no lamp sockets. Originally my intention was to get some new lamp sockets but quickly learned not as simple as that. NLA was the response everywhere I looked. In the end, (with thanks to Winnabey) I ended up prying out the lamp sockets of my current bases and successfully inserting them in the new bases.

Subsequently, I found these on the rare spares website

They are to suit an XW Falcon. There are single and twin pin versions.

I didn't end up investigating any further but may be worth checking out if anyone is needing a replacement or possibly looking for a twin filament socket to incorporate reversing lights ? They look very similar but may be different dimensions.

I have no further need, but thought it may be helpful to someone out there.

Well spotted. I note they have two types - EC1017 and EC2005. I'll check them out for size next time I'm in the vicinity.

Do you know the difference between the two types they sell? They look very similar.

Based on minijoe69's endorsement I called in to Rare Spares today and purchased one of the bulb holders for $27.05

They have two bulb holders listed with different part numbers but it's actually the same part inside the packaging. Apparently the Holden guys are very reluctant to buy a part marked as Ford and vice versa, so the Rare Spares sales guy told me they just label and package them differently.

The part looks almost exactly the same as the original Lucas item and fits the AL136 base perfectly. So we now have a simple solution for manufacturing two-screw tail light bases with the reversing light function.

I had a bit of luck while pondering the same question. I changed the 4 sockets over to new lamp bases and all 4 turned out perfect. You want them to lock down tight as the socket/lamp earths through the lamp body.
