I know this topic has been investigated before. I spoke to Scotts Old Rubber and he advised me my mark 2 has the same door rubbers as a Clubman. Mark 1 is different .So I bought 2 door seals, to my surprise the doors now fit great and do not stick out at the bottom. FYI. Allen |

What are you calling mk1 I know sliding windows and window up had different seals |

The investigations you mention are/were into the availability of the original style rubber that is separate to the grey pinch mould. My understanding is that the current style where the rubber is bonded to black pinch weld works fine but some people, me included, want original if at all possible. To my knowledge the current rubber profiles available are too thick and won't let the door close as easily is it used to. |

I am helping to restore my daughter's Clubman GT and she purchased the black bonded door seal, as her rubber seals were shot. I am going to investigate the recoating of the black pinchweld with a colour matched vinyl dye, with the colour taken from the colour of the original pinchweld. Cheers, Geoff. |

Good info all I can say is my doors now fit great. I adjust the doors with the seals off ,the doors fit about 1mm inwards. Then I fit the seals, the door is a bit hard to close, by the next day it closes firm and the door is flush with the side panel. I have fitted numerous mini doors when I was working for Lancaster Motors Sydney. From factory they never fitted well. I now have the time and experience to get the doors fitting better than factory standards. eg. Using a small block of wood tap the bottom and side pinch weld flanges in 3mm.I also use blue tack so I can find where the door has minimum clearance several pieces of blue tack are used around the opening then the door is closed without the seal. I. used to use this method using putty when I worked for York Motors Sydney. Some customers wanted their Rolls Royce doors to close better .I became very good at it, I have probably fitted 1000 doors on different cars mostly restorations. Allen |
