Can anybody remember the thickness of spacer washers which were added to the knuckle pin to raise front suspension on rally Minis etc.
part number was 21A1845. I seem to remember something about 5mm thick?

I want to make some for my son's 71 Clubby, to make it sit more level when we assemble it.

Doc,
My reading suggests 3.41mm. I made some years ago at 1/8", still using them on front.

Thanks. I see Mini kingdom has them listed but I've already half made a pair. Will make them 4mm then.

This is from a UK Special Tuning publication.
When you could buy these as genuine parts in Australia, the 0.100" one was usually supplied.
At the time I didn't know there were other sizes.

I had some steel spacers made to lift the front of my early 66 S. They were 10mm and worked fine. That and the heavier rear helper springs finally got the bastard thing to sit level (and Konis on the front)… Just machine em up long and then trim to suit.

I've seen spacers made from half inch gal water pipe and I have also seen spark plug washers used as spacers.

The cone shaped adaptor that fits into the hydro bag and holds the nylon cup and steel ball foot usually comes in a standard length.
One hydro bag I have dismantled had this strut 0.150" longer than any others I have seen. This suggests that the factory had rally suspension heights intended for some of the suspension set-ups. 0.150" was the maximum increase in height recommended by the factory.

Thanks for the info guys. :) I will make them 4mm (0.160")

My 70 Matic sits level (now) but it has S/GT front bags and its original rears with the late (orange) springs.
