This rubber is only 4 years old :( Remarkably it's also water soluble. Does anybody supply decent ones?
Do I need to remove the tank to replace it? I forget..
Thanks.

Unfortunately the ones you buy new all perish in no time. Mine are doing the same and they are only 4 years old too.

Lower control arm bushes. Upper control arm bump stops, PCV valve diaphragms etc etc.
If any supplier can guarantee their product will last, I would like to know.

I bought mine from MKO. They had 2 different ones in stock, I bought the “good one”. They have a different profile to the one in the top picture. It’s lasted very well so far

Same problem - this is the 2nd grommet fitted to the car while it was being REBUILT!

The fuel tank has to be at least partly removed so that the neck is away from the hole to allow the grommet to be fitted. I think (I am hoping) the petrol outlet does not have to be removed (also not easy as everything is a tight fit).
I have bought 2 new grommets from Scott's Old Auto in Melbourne. They are about $20 each - dearer than most junk ones. They look a lot like Timmy201's photo.
Have not fitted either one yet so I am not able to confirm their quality but can confirm they have not started to perish yet while they have been sitting on my desk for the past 4 months!

Memo to suppliers-
It matters not how cheap things are, if they don't work, fit or last.

I agree. It's very annoying to be sold inferior products, especially if the seller knows it is poor quality.

However, the supplier needs to be aware when a product is not up to spec. If a customer just throws the old one in the bin and buys elsewhere they won't know and they'll keep selling it as being suitable.

I have the same ones as timmy201 and they have been in my car for about 15 years and have not changed since they have been fitted. You can still buy them from the rubber place in penrith ill find out there name.
