Post subject:  Bee Hive Heater Install

I have an old ShinToa heater to install in the Mini (under the dash).
I think this is what they call a BeeHive heater, from the 60's.

How do you install them?
It came with two threaded rods.
Do these go through the fire wall and pull the heater up against the carpet / firewall.
The rear of the heater has the demister outlet duct, which would be against the firewall.
Looks a bit average to me, but how else do you install them?

Any experience or ideas out there?

Is it like this one? A Google search gets hits on the old Holden and Land Rover forums and websites.

I thought name Beehive was mainly used for the Smiths version of that style heater. :?

Hi Winabbey,
That is the same one I have. Same demister duct on the rear, and two threaded rods.
The only difference is that the one I have has been modified with 90 degree elbows on the two outlets.
I guess it would pull up against a solid firewall, but like most Mini's, I have carpet there.
And the two mounts need to be on a horizontal plain so that the demister outlets point in the correct direction.
Thus the weight of the heater would hang down on the rods - it would settle down over time but not ideal.
Thanks
